The Need

Despite strong aspirations, the number of refugees attaining post-secondary education in Boise has traditionally been disproportionately low in comparison to American-born students.

1R's College Bound program in Boise, Idaho empowers high school seniors from refugee backgrounds in the Treasure Valley to enter into- and succeed in post-secondary education through

  • Logistical preparedness

  • Resource Navigation

  • Identity & Career exploration

  • Self-Advocacy training

  • Family engagement

The year-long program is available to high school Seniors in the Treasure Valley from refugee, SIV, Asylee or Humanitarian Parole status. College Bound graduates who complete all program requirements transition into the 1R Scholar program for post-secondary academic and professional support as well as financial assistance. Apply here.
